An Unpredictable Year and What it Means for 2021

I was reading back over my predictions for 2020 from last year’s Christmas/New Year blog. Boy was I wrong 😊 (see blog from last year here), but then again, I think most people could not have predicted all that has happened in 2020. 2020 has been the most difficult year to navigate in my professional career, but thankfully, it has not been all bad.

A Review of 2019 & Predictions For 2020 – From 1ClickFactory CEO

The Cloud Is Coming…Has Arrived

Most of you are familiar with the fable about the boy who cried wolf. For me, the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Cloud offerings have been a bit like that the past few years.

To Business Central SaaS or to Business Central On-Premises, That is the Question?

Most customers will think about Business Central in the Cloud (Microsoft’s Software as a Service solution or ‘SaaS’ for short) as the Eldorado (or destination of gold and eternal bliss).  Frankly, I would agree with that in the long term. The fact is, though, that we are not ready to move all types of customer installations to Business Central SaaS, today.

To Business Central or not to Business Central, That is the Question?

The changes that Microsoft have made not only encompass changes with the basic concept (the solution is now also available in the Cloud, without losing any strength in customization), but there have also been significant changes to the core of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, which is changing the application development language, basically for the first time since 1990. This will bring a lot of advantages for customers but also requires Microsoft ISVs and partners to rewrite a large portion of the code that has been built into their customer base since 1995.

My five best cost reductions to eliminate upgrade stupidity

A couple of years ago, I released a blog (see here) on getting the tactics to upgrading right. Back then I focused on 4 tactics, but with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central release, those tactics are changing and there are more options for partners and customers to consider. Will it become easier? Not for the next upgrade, unfortunately, but once you are on Dynamics 365 Business Central, the costs of upgrading will start declining. I will prove that to you if you get to the 4th cost reduction (or put my money where my mouth is).

2017 – the year, the future of business solutions was born

What it is that Microsoft wants to accomplish exactly with Dynamics 365? Microsoft does not want the customers to be worried about what technology that solution is built on or infrastructure it runs on as it is all Microsoft technology (the infrastructure of choice for Dynamics 365 and all the apps is, of course, Microsoft Azure). The customer can just focus on their need and which business apps suits these needs best.

Eliminate Dynamics NAV Upgrade Stupidity – 4 BEST TACTICS

Anyone working professionally with Microsoft Dynamics NAV upgrades is often asked, “will it ever get easier” in reference to the upgrade process. Then follows a deep breath and sad expression in their eyes.

Upgrades have been a deep passion of mine for many years. I’m fortunate enough to be surrounded by upgrade experts daily. The good news, based on recent conversations and activity in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV channel, there is light at the end of the tunnel and relief for complex upgrades has actually arrived.
